Lake Huron's "Tip of the Thumb" is rated number one for charter success ratio by Michigan's DNR.

The cold, deep waters offshore, with its many shipwrecks and reef structures attract and hold huge schools of forage fish, which in turn attract the predators. Schools of hungry trout and salmon cruise the structures in search of food throughout the summer.

Port Austin is the "Lake Trout Capital" of the Great Lakes, a world-class fishery in every sense of the word. Limit catches of 7- to 15-pound trout are the rule rather than the exception, and master angler trout (over 18 pounds) are caught every season by lucky anglers.

Adding to the excitement, a variety of gamefish frequent the area, king salmon, coho salmon, steelhead trout, brown trout and lake whitefish are all part of a day's catch. The Port Austin area has been called a "fisherman's paradise," and rightly so!

Morning Fishing
Our most popular trip, fish from 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., back to the dock, fish cleaned, and all in time for lunch. Speaking of lunch, be sure to ask about our "cook your catch" service. It's great!

Afternoon Fishing
Sleep in, have lunch and fish from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a nice way to spend a summer afternoon.

Deluxe Fishing Package
A full day's fishing (8 hours), from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., targeting all the various species of game fish Port Austin has to offer. Lunch is provided.

10-hour Split Trip
A lot of our guests travel up the afternoon before their scheduled charter; why not fish? The 10-hour split trip fishes 4 hours in the afternoon, and 6 hours the following morning. Click here for overnight accommodations or call Captain Gary.
